The Lucid Dream

The Lucid Dream is one of them bands that sound like they have stepped right out of the 60’s with their psychedelics experimental sound.

Formed in Carlisle in 2008 the four piece released two EP’s ‘Erbistock Mill’ and ‘In Your Eyes’ in 2010, both selling out. ‘In Your Eyes’ received the accolade of ‘Radio 2 Listeners Tip of the Week’, on Steve Lamacq’s show. Also earning themselves spots as support for Spectrum, as well as appearing at Kendall Calling Festival. This band has come a long way in such a short time and are due to release their next single ‘Heartbreak Girl’ on November 7th 2011, backed with song ‘I Feel So Lonesome.’ Although short at two minutes ‘Heartbreak Girl’ breaks straight away into lyrics and it’s jangly sound. It manages to create a moody atmosphere with its repetitive repeats of the lyrics ‘Heartbreak Girl,’ the song feels like it is in a constant loop. ‘I Feel So Lonesome’ is a darker song with a constant droning noise throughout the song it creates a hauntingly chilly sound filled with melodic echoes. Having been compared to bands such as the likes of ‘The Jesus and the Mary Chain’ amongst others, with their psychedelic sound they have a lot to live up to. They’ve managed stick to their namesake very well and have added something fresh and new to this genre. A band full of majestic sounds, droning guitars, distorted noises and abstract lyrics, I’m sure they will please fans of the psychedelic genre.
