Review of The Jezabels ‘Endless Summer’
With their unique sound the Jezabels have been described as a ‘cocktail of power and elegance’ and their new track Endless Summer featured on their brand new album ‘Prisoner’ is no exception.
With hauntingly beautiful vocals and lyrics by Haley Mary, it’s no surprise this album reached No.2 in the Australian charts. The individual sound they have discovered has lead to them making a track with such beautiful lyrics of romance and heartbreak, the perfect song to remind anyone of the summer of their lives, especially as we are now well into the Autumn and find ourselves reminiscing back to the previous months of sun, sand and relatively warm weather.
This song single-handedly brings people’s hearts to Australia and makes not falling in love with this band impossible. Whether it’s Hayley Mary’s vocals, Heather Shannon on the keyboard, Nik Kaloper on drums or Samuel Lockwood on guitar, you will find yourself listening to this track on repeat over and over again and still unearthing something new each time.
The lyrics describe the passion of two lovers and they make their separate journeys through life, being torn apart from each other as summer comes to an end and of the reminiscing of the time that has flown by too quickly. You can feel the struggle of the couple trying to remember the summer that has past but finding it difficult as they are now overpowered with loneliness, misunderstanding and heartbreak.
