Causeway Lane is an up and coming five piece pop-punk band from Matlock, Derbyshire

Fronted with a female vocalist their debut E.P. entitled ‘Let’s Go Cargo’ show’s this band has true potential to go far. The first of two tracks ‘Be Here Now’ appears to have elements from ‘Fall Out Boy’s’ earlier stuff, the introduction is cleverly done having the drums use a double bass fill showing heavier influences. This song is a more upbeat and catchy song compared to ‘Never Give Up’ which has a much darker and heavier sound. To me I find ‘Never Give Up’ to be the better of the two songs they have managed to create something that sounds of their own it’s slow and edgy. The female vocalist has strong voice; the female and male harmonies have been placed in good places but could do with a little bit of work. It’s easy to see that Causeway Lane have had plenty of musical influences from bands such as ‘A Day to Remember’ to ‘August Burns Red’ and take influence form genres such as metal as well as pop-punk. This band has a clear sense of what music they want to achieve and this has helped them create a unique and diverse sound. The only thing that I have to criticise is that their recordings do not do them justice.
