Breton – Edward The Confessor/Kensington System EP

Infectious after only 20 seconds, Breton have managed to create two electro tunes that will have shoulders jabbing in smokey clubs around the country.

As I pressed play I was a little dubious when the backing track started it has to be said, but as soon as the vocals kicked in they had me hooked. Whether it was the ability to remind me of festival times or just making my foot tap throughout, we’re onto a winner here.

Strobe lighting and the smell of innocence being danced away, a sign that this EP is one to be kept away from the mainstream bubble for the niche market to bathe in its awesomeness. Soaked in influences from the likes of SBTRKT, the great Simian Mobile Disco but mixed with an air of ‘the indie band’. I think Florence and the Machine may want their harp back after they’ve finished giving Edward the Confessor that chillaxed attitude. It seems late night sets are calling.

All that aside, there’s nothing monotonous about the two tracks, Edward the Confessor will have you hypnotised with its loops and obsessive rhythm while Kensington System has probably already got that Made in Chelsea lot quaking in their overly priced riding boots.

Clearly they have no need to justify how they’ve got there finger on the pulse as this EP proves they have. I’m going to play Edward the Confessor here… It’s not my usual cup of tea but after 6 minutes 38 seconds I couldn’t stop pressing play.
