NME Shockwaves Awards announced on Tuesday
The nominations for this year's Shockwaves NME Awards are set to be announced on Tuesday January 25.
Voting has now closed for the awards, but will reopen at NME.COM/awards when the nominations are announced next week.
Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, Muse and Bombay Bicycle Club were among the winners at last year’s awards.
This year the Shockwaves NME Awards ceremony takes place at the O2 Academy Brixton in London on February 23.
Meanwhile Foo Fighters have been announced as the headliners for this year’s NME Big Gig at Wembley Arena.
It will take place on 25 February and feature a supporting cast of Cee Lo Green, Band Of Horses and No Age, reports NME.
It will come two days after the Shockwaves NME Awards in which Foo Fighters mainman will pick up the Godlike Genius awards.
Speaking of the Wembley Arena show, an excitable Grohl said: “There’s nothing better than seeing that person with that instrument doing it right there in front of you. It’s the f—in’ Foo Fighters! It’s the only way you’re really gonna get it.”
Grohl had reportedly said last year that “in 2011 you’re not going to be able to get us out of your hair”, and he seems bang on so far.
